Odor and Contaminant Control
An abatement specialist asked for our help to control solvent odors on a healthcare facility project. We provided activated carbon cells for the negative air machine that exhausted outside the facility. In this particular case, we needed to augment the carbon cells with a stand-alone air “scrubber.” This portable device pulls air through 50+ pounds of carbon to remove fumes and odors. We used a mix of activated carbon and potassium permanganate, because of its ability to address a wide spectrum of odors. Activated carbon can be combined with a variety of other elements to address very specific situations. For example, sulfur-infused carbon is effective against mercury vapors.
