Air Quality for Food Production

One of our customers manufacturers bags for the food industry. The manufacturing process uses bursts of high-pressure air to expand the bags and dry the glue. Our customer was challenged to meet the high standards of the food industry. Specifically, the food producer must control particulates as small as 5 microns. For reference, a human hair is about 150 microns thick.
We advised our customer on retrofitting the intake duct for the expansion air on the production line. We helped the customer measure the air flow in cubic feet per minute (CFM). Then we identified a filter that could handle both high air flow and 95%+ efficiency on 5 micron particles. The customer used a 24 X 24” metal frame to accommodate a high capacity 36” bag filter, with a MERV-8 pleated pre-filter to extend the life of the bag filter.
